New bit with DFHS

Something new I threw together this morning for kicks. I call it "Muscle Car".

If you load it up in Sonar, and use that time stretch thing you can adjust the length to suit your own tastes. <G>

Cool, moves nicely. I would have like a little less drums, and a little more of the hot keyboard. Nice mix.

The drums are mixed up because I did this bit primarily as a drum exercise.

    Glennbo,

Weird piece. Seems like that's what you were going for though. It would work better for me if there were something to hold on to - not a refrain necessarily, but some kind of theme - personal preference. Other than that, I liked the lead sound - it's kind of cheesy but it sounds good in the runs - and think the drums are well-done but could use some distortion. The self-conscious laughtrack outro is a nice touch.

    Thanks Jonathan! :)

Weird and fast was what I was going for. The lead sound is something I cooked up just for this bit. I'm using a native patch to the FM7 called "Six-String" that I doubled with a good quality sample of an accordian. I'm playing everything on this, and did play all the parts at the full 170 BPM except for the solo keyboard, which I played at about 3/4 full speed (hey I'm a drummer), then clicked it back up to the full 170 BPM. ;)

I dig most of ELP's work. In the first few albums, Keith was on fire.

    Hey, I bet you're a drummer.

I'm not a big synth fan but I thought the song was pretty good. I'd like to hear a good singing, growling guitar going to town with it though. The drums so great!

If I did add some more to this one, I'd probably have to get my guitarst (Joey Who???) to put some smoking solo on it.

Yeah, I am primarily a drummer. I gig live on acoustic drums and record with a set of V-Drums connected to DFHS. I played everything on this cut. Real bass, real single coil guitar, virtual Fender Rhodes, and the solo, which I did cheat on. Everything was played in real time except the solo, which I played about 3/4 real time speed. Hey, I'm just a drummer! ;)
