How to crisp sounds in Rapture or Dimension

Its an amature question and I am new to the syth world. Thanks for your patience.
how can I give a preset some treble with Rapture without changing the dynamics or the volume of the sound?

I want to shape up the individual preset and make it cresp sounding.

Do I need a plug-in to do that ,if so what plug in would you recommend or can Rapture save the day?

thanks

Use the EQ - tho you might have to back off the volume a bit (adding EQ will add vol, of course).

Another option might be a little distorition. Try Cake's distorition plug or google for a freebie.

I just tried the EQ and it added volume and I couldnt get the image I was looking for . It seems I might want to look into a plug in then.

Can you explain what you did with the EQ? To make the sound more 'crisp', you'd probably have to carefully work out which frequencies of that sound you need to promote by boosting with EQ. Rapture's onboard EQ should be up to the job.

Another thing: if you're using a sound that has a low-pass filter enabled in the filter section, you could simply raise the cut-off frequency. This will allow the filter to pass more high frequencies, and hence give the sound more 'treble'.

To be honest I just tweaked it . I would have to follow your instructions again and see what result I can achieve.

Just one more thing to observe: EQ can only boost or cut frequencies that are present in the sound already. If there is a low-pass filter cutting out the higher frequencies you'd like to hear, then there's not much that EQ will do for you.

In other words, look at the filter settings before trying to use EQ.
