Tracking X3 bugs - list of current bugs needed

Hi Everyone,

There are certainly a number of troublesome bugs in X3 (even at C patch release).  Is there a way we can consolidate these bugs into one place?  It might be helpful for us (the users) to see the behavior, alternate causes (or related causes like the double point precision) and possible work arounds for each, as well as tracking the progress, i.e., Bakers' acknowledgment, for each bug.  That way we can go to a single place to review and/or update on the bug should a new cause or "solution" be found, etc., instead of shuffling multiple threads, which may include duplicate reporting.

Any ideas/opinions?

Kind regards,

I would be happy to see something like this too. It wouldn't even need the Cakewalk staff to say that the bugs were confirmed either- they could just check in on it from time to time.

Like you say though- how do you consolidate it . The OP makes the original list and keeps editing it to stay up to date with data coming in throughout the thread. Then someone says "that's not a bug, that's intended behaviour".

Then people start arguing and eventually it will be locked and then you can imagine the internet: "Cakewalk locks thread discussing bugs"

I'll save you time: The list exists (of course!) but is not made public. Cakewalk has stated their policy and reasons for this many times before.
The only time bugs are documented publicly are in the fix lists attached to each patch release.
We may not like this fact; but Cakewalk are free to run their business the way they see fit; and we have to respect that.

Frankly, if I were in their business, I'd do exactly the same thing.

Yes, someone should start an unfixed bug thread and the bugs to be listed there must be confirmed by Cakewalk first (to prevent the scenario cited by backwoods). The purpose of the thread, I guess, is to save someone else's time from submitting the same bug report. I have some bugs confirmed by CW ( i.e. "Submitted to Development") so I think I can contribute to the thread.

This pops up from time to time - has never worked in the past.

There are just so many variations on issues and environments (software AND hardware), and lots of times folks do not list specific version information when posting issues, so it is often difficult to know which issue goes with which release (x3, X3a, X3b, X3c, etc.).

Best of luck with it, in any case,

But if the bugs have been confirmed by CW and are still present in the latest patch, wouldn't listing them all up in a single thread help those who are wondering if they should upgrade? At least until the demo version comes out...
