Using Ozone
I’ve been playing around with Ozone mastering plug-in for a while now and it’s great but I’m not sure I’m using it right. Can anyone offer me some advice on how to get the best out of it? Thanks a lot. -Anthony

It comes with a quite extensive guide for how to use it. That's the obvious place to start.

As droddey said, the guide thingy for it is a good place to start. It is very detailed in how to use the pluggin and very helpful. Read through it very carefully and then you probably wont need any help from here.

Then, when you get done, best of luck in not going blind tring to use it.

ORIGINAL: Ognis Then, when you get done, best of luck in not going blind tring to use it. I thought that was just a myth. I better get my eyes checked. Ok, back on topic. The best way for a beginner is to start with one of the many presets and tweak from there. also you should get an understanding on what every control and nob does, exspecially dealing with the dynamic effects. Its a great plugin, but remember less is sometimes more. Cj

And, I guess, just to really step back and look at the big picture... the other thing to keep in mind is that you should be trying to create a final track that needs Ozone as little as possible, preferably not at all, except as a maximizer/limiter if you don't have one on the master bus. If you do the right thing with all the tracks and the mix, a little light compression, an EQ to roll off the low lows, and a limiter/maximizer (all on the master bus) can be all you need. Then you just export straight out to the audio final audio file.

I actually recommend that you flip through the presets for about 10 minutes, then NEVER ever use a preset again...start each project with blank settings, or create a basic template to use as a starting point. The Ozone 3 presets are absolutely horrid....WAY overdone.

If you have a good mix that you plan to use Ozone on, you could upload the wav and let me master it with Ozone 3, then I'll send the master along with the Ozone settings file, so you can see what I did.

Hey Jam, that that go for me also I would love to see someone elses perspective on one of my projects. Ive always been curious to see what someone else would do and how it would sound. Ive never sent anything out, ive always done everything myself. it would be pretty cool to have someone imparcial to do it Cj

I bought Ozone 3 and Har-Bal a year ago. I've never gotten around to using them yet. Maybe it's time.
Slow Marching Band Win 7 x64, Sonar X1E x64, Studio One v2, Focusrite Saffire 24 DSP Pro, Genelec 8030a, True Systems P-Solo, Focusrite ISA One, FMR RNP, GAP-73. "Someone to watch over me".

Hi, everyone! Here's a great downloadable video tutorial. It is fast, and effective--still we've all got to read the pdf as well...DARN...DARN... DARN! It is very inexpensive if you have Paypal! http://streamworksaudio.com/?page=products&prodID=3&catID=8 It gets you started fast, and it helps you appreciate how efficient the Ozone GUI is.
