A decent phone

Everything I own crapped out at the same time.

I'm looking for a decent phone for my studio. Doesn't have to be top of the line anything. But I would like a wireless phone with answering machine and the ability to turn the ringer completely off.

If you can provide a model # that would be cool. Thanks.

    Kriz,

I purchases a V tech 5.8 ghz 4 set wireless phone set to have around the house and only needed to connect one telephone line. The base has an answering machine, and you can transfer phone calls to independent hand sets. You can identy individual phones and select which one to transfer the call to. There is only one telephone cord needed for the entire set to operate. What is great is that it opertates on the 5.8 Ghz spectrum and not the 2.4 which my wireless network functions on, and I now have 8 PCs, 2 servers and a printer on my wifi network.

I purchased mine from BJ's wholesale warehouse for $99.99 / pack of 4

Ha - sorry that was a joke (sort of).

Seems a lot of my home appliances have reached the end of their life span and started crapping out. My coffee pot rusted out at the bottom and put rust all over the sink. My remote for my entertainment center finally had it. Two phones just gave up the ghost. I guess I got my money's worth out of that stuff. But there is a definite 7 year cycle to this stuff.

Anyway thanks Jess for the suggestion - that looks like a nice phone. But I really only just need a single handset and the ability to turn off the ringer.

I'll take a closer look at these V-Tech's. Can you disable the ringer? That's a prime feature request. I just need a flashing button or something like that.

I use a '40s Western Electric with the ringer disabled. That should last another thousand years or so. And a radio shack LED flasher for the ringer.

Well I'm most likely to late with this response, but yes, you can disable the ringer. When there's a phone call the screen lites up.

I think I probably stole that gif from somebody here. I had been looking for an excuse to use it and I figured Larry was as good a target as anybody. Besides, I HATE telephones! Especially cell phones. I almost never answer the phone. If it's important they'll leave a message. It's a wonder I stay in business.

We were driving down the street one day in some little town when I saw that street sign and recognized a good photo-op. I've always wondered why they named it that. Seems like a strange name for a street.

I've been unimpressed with many of the wireless phones I have used. They are really convenient, but voice quality was never all that great, battery life was hit or miss, and interference was common. Perhaps the newer models are a bit better. Cords stink, but they work. Good luck, man

I have one now, thats a year old. If I pick it up off the charger and press talk, it dies instantly. Batteries are cheap though, like 10 / 20 dollars.

any wireless phone using the 2.4ghz band will kill wireless networking devices, just a PSA. =)
