encoding surround, burning DVD ??

I have been trying to figure out what software is needed to mixdown Sonar projects to 5.1 surround and burn the results to a DVD. I want to make DVDs of surround mixes that can play on home surround systems. I haven't been able to find very definitive answers. I'm gathering that it requires one program to encode the surround sound, and a different program to burn the DVD. And also that the encoder programs reflect the price of licensing from Dolby labs. And that DTS is another surround format, but incompatible with Dolby. Also there's some sort of plug in called 'tru surround' will that do what i need? thanks for your help!

The simplest way to do it is to export the surround file in sonar and open it in a DVD audio burning program like Disk Welder Bronze. This is assuming that you have a dvd audio player.

Wave Lab also has DVD-Audio recording capabilities.

I'm not using Sonar, but I assume that it will just put out wave files for surround and not do the AC3 conversion, no? I've got Audition and it's that way too. The last time I checked, Soundforge offered the cheapest AC3 conversion for surround, but it was still a few hundred bucks.
