cleaning up a dvd disc

All,

I have a back up DVD that won't read. It may be toast (or a toaster), but does anyone have hands on experience on cleaning one or others ideas about recovery? All ideas are welcome.

Maybe you tried this already but...have you tried reading it on another computer? Maybe your drive is dirty. A can of compressed air can help with that.

I've got a Memorex disc repair machine at home but haven't tried it yet. It's supposed to fix surface scratches.

    Lion,

yea, I 've heard of those. I think the disc I used was old - it looks kinda scratchy (duh - I should have checked before i used the old disc but wanted to get rid of the last of the 4X DVDs).

I've tried different drives, too - the one in an older machine got one of the folders to show up, but nothing inside. I've still got to try the "family" computer that I'm writing this on.

    Anyway, thanks for the ideas.

Any time, AT. The restoration machine I bought btw was only 20 bucks at Wal-Mart.
