Soundcard suggestion

I am a complete newbie at this. Recently, I purchased the software version of Guitar Rig 2 and my soundcard can't handle it. Currently I am using ASIO4All as my ASIO driver and there are lots of pops every time I play my guitar through this card and Guitar Rig. I don't have a *noticable* delay, but those pops are killing me! I have a SoundBlaster Live from about 8 years ago (did I mention I am a complete newbie?) that I harvested from an old PC and put into my new one.

My current PC is a 3GHz Dell with 1GB of memory running XP SP2. Now, over the years, I have collected quite a few SoundFont files (SF2) that I really like and would like to be able to use even after my soundcard upgrade.

So, my question is - is there a soundcard that will enable me to use Guitar Rig flawlessly while letting me use the soundfont files with my MIDI tracks? My budget is $150 or less. Thanks in advance for any comments.

if you have 1/4" connections of any kind, or a mixer, then your best bet is the echo mia midi. it's $130 now. it is a dated card but within your budget. if you don't have a mixer, or preamp, etc., you can also try the m-audio audiophile 2496.

there is a free VST called 'sfz' from rgcaudio that will play soundfonts, but i don't know if guitar rig supports that. i used to have an SBlive, ditch that crap.

Thanks guys for the quick replies. I'm checking both of those cards out. Last night I downloaded 'sfz' and it's great! But as expected, my SB Live craps out easily. Yeah, time to 'ditch that crap' :) Thanks again.

PS: I also have a TV card in my PC. So, do you guys know if I can keep my SB live AND one of the other cards without any problems?

Yep, you just switch between using the cards for recording and playback in your

"Sound and Audio Device Properties" section in your control panel
I use my SB X-Fi Fatality for playback and my E-Mu 1616 for recording
i just make sure to switch them back.
