tracks bleeding onto tracks

when i record multiple tracks, each consecutive track picks up

the track(s) before it muddying up everything as you can imagine! Any ideas what i can do so that a track armed to record

only picks up that which i am playing and not that which is playing back?

free drinks in new orleans for the answerer.

This is typically caused by a setting that many soundcards (especially Soundblaster cards) have called "Record what you hear".
Open the windows mixer (speaker icon in system tray) or whatever it is that controls your soundcard and look for the "record what you hear" option and turn it off.

See if this helps. It's basically what Larry said, with a roadmap.
