The Town Fool / Collab

Yep. It's me again.

Here's another effort featuring: James Griffiths (jamesg123 ) on - Electric guitar, synth, percussion, and all the good stuff.

Me (lhansen) on - Acoustic guitar, vocals & harmonies.

The title speaks for itself.

Thanks to James for lending his talents to this one!

I pretty much liked all aspects of this: electric guitar, synth, percussion, acoustic and even vocals. However, the lyrics threw me. It sounded like Yippee-i-oh, yippee-i-ay. But I might have that confused with some cowboy movie. Of course, consider the title.

Tony - Thanks for listening! Hope you liked it.

Mark - I'm still laughing about the yipp-i-ay comment! What, you never heard of a celtic cowboy??!! My ego is bruised, and feeling depressed now. It took me weeks to come up with those lyrics man!! Hey, I had a lots 'o fun doing this!! I know you were secretly singing along with this, admit it!

Larry & James nice work, this has a good celtic feel, but the words are a bit deep Celtic Cowboy a good name for a band

Are those lyrics posted anywhere? When I heard it on the small speakers at the office I swear I was hearing the yippeekayae stuff too. Nice instrumentation and mixing.

Larry and James, Great fun song you guys. The title does tend to say it all about those lyrics. Awesome guitar work both acoustic and electric. I really liked the drums in this and when they kicked in I started dancing in my head. That was a great way to end this one as well. Great job to you both. John

    Reece,
Thanks for listening my good man! I love the way James' orchestration causes this song to build. Glad you enjoyed it.

Dave - I appreciate you giving this a listen. Yes, I know the words are a bit deep. However, with age comes wisdom!! Focus Grasshopper!!

Rob - James amazes me how he can take the simplist song and turn it into something larger. It's always a suprise when I hand him something off, and shortly after, he comes up with great music. He mixed this very well. Take a bow James!!

    Mark my friend,

I always love it when you stop by! To understand those lyrics, one must achieve a deep meditative state. ( a drunken stupor will work as well ) Then, and only then, will you be enlightened by chanting the Mantra "Diddley - ay - yo, Diddley - ay - yay." I know the western world tends to hear it differently. They have been corrupted by " cigarettes, and whiskey, and wild, wild, women!!" Ye-Hah!!

Man, there's good stuff out there today ... (well, everyday - of course - but today especially )!

This is fantastic, guys! I too was fascinated by the timpani and also the pizzicato strings - James, what program are you using, if you don't mind me asking? They sound so real, so authentic ... and, it sounds like you knew how to program the strings. Both your guitar performances shine - to say the least!

This was yet another great collab between the two of you! Beautiful.

    Heinz.

Wow!! Good job guys. What a great piece. Nice arrangement and instrumentation, great vocal delivery. James - quite the orchestration there, some suprises (in a good way), nice buildup and dynamics, well done. Larry -- your vocal style is so, well .. 'real' .. for lack of a better word, you have a great deal of expression and honesty in your delivery and it can make any lyric into to a story. Good stuff.

Hey guys, thanks a lot for the great comments, this was such fun to do. Larry keeps coming up with these lovely Celtic sounding pieces, and he just lets me 'go for it'!

For those that asked, the timpani and cymbals are from the Edirol orchestra section, and the other instruments (cellos, violas, English horn etc) are right out of the Dyad soft synth that comes with Home Studio. I'm glad that section sounded passable, I don't usually try 'orchestrating' like that for fear of the dreaded 'cheese factor'

Thanks again to Larry, always a pleasure sir!

Great little tune, nicely worked out - but those lyrics are too deep for this song, with more conventional lyrics it would possibly become more accessible to us non-intellectuals.

Heinz - Thank you for the wonderful comments. I love doing the story -telling type of music.

Bill - Thanks for the kind words on the vox! I'm hoping to put out more material down the road with James & I. James, have I ever heard you sing??

Rob - Sorry, i didn't mean to go "over your head" with the lyrics! Having been raised on my Grandmother's farm will do that. Thanks for the reality check!
