I don't know what you've changed, dude, but the underlying issue remains: there is this very neat smooth melody, and it sits on top very ill fitting energetic beat. You could try to pass it as Fusion, but, again, it doesn't gel, in my opinion. Perhaps, remove the beat completely, and create a new, much mellower, more understated, and definitely more varied beat.

    ok
    I get it

I do think the piece improved because of HiThere's original comments and the changes made,
but I can understand how the combination of ingredients may not work for everyone

I did like the drums. Cool sound, good playing. I just wasn't a fan of the other parts, doesn't mean it's a flop though

Nice tune. Awful mellow, for the most part, but I'm with Ognis that the drums sound great and the background noises (voices?) make for a lot of interest.

Just before the 2:00 mark the piano and backing seem to sound a bit out of sync - maybe they aren't but the timing still verges on the odd. It almost does it again at 4:30 as the song cresendos again.

Production is great and nice song altogether.

    thanks AT
    it needs some work

I let that section go as is
though I did supress the bass that made it even worse
the playing works on its own
but with the delay in/out of sync and that percussion locked in on the beats
it really does pull that section out

sounds ok to me. thats one of the things I like about alot of your work...is the bed of noise, beats, and odd sounds evolving in the background, with beautiful, clean melodies bringing it all together.

although, this track is alot cleaner.

    nice work!

    thanks sean
even though I said I wouldn't, I'm reworking this again
    cleaning up some timing
trying to add the more usual touches of atmosphere
it's become a never-ending project -- hopefully I'll come out the other end having learned something

    I really like this.

It starts off kind of awkward, but then it slips into a nice groove. I think the awkwardness works once the song gets going. Kind of like a order out of chaos sort of thing.

I think that the ongoing chaos is what makes it work. If it just went colorous all of a sudden (like in Wizard of Oz when it goes from black and white to color) it would have left me wondering what happened in the beginning.
