Please tell me what you think.

I wrote this during a three week period last month in which my father was quickly slipping away. He passed on June 25 at the age of 83.

Anyway, I guess we tend to write what we are living through. I recorded this within days of writing it and then just left it for a few weeks.

I sent it to a friend of mine in Austin, TX - Earl - he's a great guitar player - also plays a mean steel guitar. So, Earl put down a steel guitar track over the past few days - this is what we got.

The tune has no name - right now it's just titled "The Ballad".

Thanks for taking a listen, and let me know what you think.

Mark

I look forward to hearing more from the cowboys. You guys do some very unique stuff. This one is clean and clear, a great mix, and a beautiful song as well.

My condolences. I sympathize, having lost my father-in-law last week. I'll bet your dad would love this song.

    My condolences.

Great tune, nice playing, Gilmour-esque in places.

Delightful Mark. Really serene and thoughtful piece, and +1 for the David Gilmour reference, this could be an outtake from his last solo album. Very well done indeed.

Mark, my sympathy for you and your family and a prayer for healing and nothing but good memories. Your heart, soul and feelings really come through on the music; very well done. I can kind of sense a feeling of numbness and contemplation in the music; the kind of things you feel as you watch someone you love take the final step. Very good work and I know your Dad is awful proud of this one.
