Music Creator 3- 2 questions...

When I record, the playback has this clicking noise. How can I fix this??

Also, when I am recording, the playback isnt at the same time, with the separate track that I'm recording. How do I get this to sync up?

The clicking could be the metronome, if it's heard while recording, too, but most likely your sound card is the problem and or you have the latency slider too far to the left, or other running programs are making noise, or you need to be in MME driver mode.
At the top, go to 'options>audio>advanced' and tell us what the settings are there. Go ahead and change the driver mode on that screen to 'MME' and run the wave profiler from there, too. Close and re-open MC and tell us what happened.
And while you're in there, tell us what the sampling and bit rates are. The sound card has to sample at the same rate as MC.

VERY new to the forum, don't even know how to start a new thread...
I've got a new vista istalled PC and am attempting to load my version of MC2003. I get a message that directx8.1 was not detected and if I allow it to install it, well, nothing happens. I've retsarted the machine etc, but alas, no luck so far.
Is there a particular trick to MC2003 with Vista???

You just click on "New Post" at the top.

If you can get MC 2003 to work with Vista, you'll be the first. Others have said they can get MC 3 to work, somewhat limitedly. If I were you and had a spare $50 lying around, I'd get the new MC 4 which is claimed to be Vista-compatible.
Search posts (click 'search' all the way at the top) with the word "Vista" in the body and you may find out how others have made it work, but I don't remember what the few who did it did to get MC and Vista to work and play well together.

The directX problem is due to the fact that Most computers have directX version 9 on them, vista has version 10 i have heard. there is a patch on the cakewalk web site here that fakes the system into thinking it has old version 8.1 so it will load, the method was to save the patch to your desktop then double click it and it will install the program (MC 2003 CD must be in Cd drive) the patch is on this page http://cakewalk.com/Support/FAQs/MC2faq.asp#DX8

I do not know if this will work with Vista, i agree with Greg if you can afford it download the new MC 4 for $35 or so.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

Thanks guys. I used the patch and it loaded but the font set on the "piano roll" is all goofed up. Lots of scissors and square notes....
    (sounds good though!)
