K2, Sony ExpressFX and Volume Automation

Got a problem. In a nutshell, whenever I add a Sony ExpressFX effect (from an install of Sound Forge Audio Studio) like Flange/Wah-Wah or Graphic EQ to a track in Kinetic 2 that has volume automation recorded in it, that volume automation goes completely out of whack. Doesn't even follow the curve any more. It's suddenly the equivalent of an on-off pot. If I'm sloping up, then halfway up the slope, the volume kicks in all the way to the top. Sometimes vice-versa. These Sony effects are screwing with Kinetic. Anyone had the same kind of problem? Who's to blame here? Should I be complaining to Cakewalk that they're not playing nice with the Sony FX, or the other way around? It's very aggravating, and I love the Sony EQ and Flange, but seem to be able to use them ONLY on tracks that have no automation.
