Midi patches wont stay after i change them

Ok, so I bought all kinds of new stuff: a computer, toneport kb37, ezdrummer, all kinds of synth stuff, sonar 6 ..... to start recording a demo. And everything seemed to be working out great until I ran into
a midi problem.......

when i import midi files and play them back in sonar 6 with any of the midi programs...cakewalktts1, PYSNII, rolandgroovesynth, etc.... the track only plays what it is automatically set to....

for example.... in a song intro i have volume swelling "strings" at least i want "strings"......but since it was set to "alto sax" no matter what i change the patch to it goes right back to "alto sax" as soon as i hit play....ive read through the help guide and tried going to rightclick> trackproperties> and trying to switch the patch there so it says "none"..... but it doesnt matter.... i could choose "none"...electric guitar, harp, sitar......whatever... it does nothing.... it just keeps going back to the damn "alto sax" every time i hit play.... this problem is KILLING me cause it took so long to get everything set up......ive even had a whole computer crash and blue screen in the process cause it couldnt handle all the cool programs....and im sooo close to starting. just cant seem to get the midi to stay on the right patch ....

PLEASE HELP!!!

Open the Event List and see if there are any patch change commands...if so, delete.

seraphic, try going to the individual i/o, bank, and patch settings in the channel strip in sonar and setting the bank and patch there.

i was having the EXACT same problem a few days ago trying new synths. i could select the bank and patch, but as soon as i clicked off or hit play, it would revert back to the default patch.

i ended up having to go set the bank and patch manually on the channel strip in sonar. now it sticks and works fine.

o, and welcome to the forum =)

    Hi-

Make sure each track is outputting to a different MIDI Channel, and that your synth(s) are set up to receive on different (multiple) channels.

Now if you are using Sonar 5 or 6 then you can see the PGs in the track view as little boxes located at the bottom of the track at the point where the PG takes place.
