Audio Interface recommendations

Can anyone recommend an audio interface that is guarranteed to have no compatibility problems with Sonar6 on a standard windows XP system? I have just been through a 2 and a half month nightmare with a presonus firestudio. It made my play/rec transport go haywire and caused dropouts and all sorts of problems. After about 20 tech emails the story is it's a compatibility issue which presonus are working on with a beta driver. I'm ditching the unit but want to make sure that whatever else I get will be rock solid and reliable. I am willing to go a bit higher than the firestudio price range. (The f.studio retailed about $1600 Australian dollars - US $1000? UK 800?) Doesn't have to have more than 8 pres/inputs; should have midi; firewire; 24bit; and be able to be used stand-alone. I'm considering the MOTU 828 or an REM 400 or 800, though a lot of the REM features I don't need. I'm looking for reliability and simplicity, rather than bells and whistles and features that are beyond my IQ. Any suggestions?

I'd guess the Edirols would be a good fit since there's a partnersip of sorts.
That's who makes the ones in the studio packages.

I've never had any issue with my M-Audio Delta 1010lt. Works perfect, even at super low latency. I can get 1.2ms all day, without a problem (unless I'm getting high track counts of course). WDM seems to work a tad better than ASIO, which means nothing, just that if you get one, you may want to use WDM.

I've had a Delta 1010 for about 7 years. Trouble free.

Thanks Westside Steve. I haven't heard of Edirols, I'll look into it. (I've never heard of REM either!! - I meant to say RME not REM, oops)

I'm going to look at a MOTU 24/IO today. I need the extra inputs bad. I decided to go with MOTU after reading a lot of good posts about them here. I hope everything will remain as stable as it has been with my delta card.

Thanks deiseldave and Ognis. I'll look into the M.Audio Deltas too.
