assigning drums to midi keyboard

I am using HS6xl. When i load a kit with Session drummer 2, i have to search all over my keyboard (e-mu xboard 49) to find the key associated with the instrument. Is there a way to assign a specific key on my board to a specific pad (drum, cowbell etc.) ? Thanks jeff

Yes. Use the drums maps (Drum Map manager)

Jeff that was a great question. I have an x-Board 49 and I have no idea how to use all the programing knobs or assign any parqameters to anything. I can play a variety of synths with it but really have not figured out how to use it's many options. Any more advice would be appreciated. (I'm an old guitarists who has been slowly learning the joys and FRUTRATIONS of computer recording with HS4 and now HS6xl)

wolfie - like you i never really use midi other than via a piano controller for triggering soft synths.
not too bothered. but i can recommend sonar 6 power! by scott garrigus for some good basic information on midi control/editing etc. personally, other than quantising drum tracks i try and fix the performance when recording, or use the associated audio track for fx etc. maybe i do need to delve into the dark side...
