Playback Issue, Please Help.

I don't know how to use Music Creator 3 directly with my microphone, so I usually use the Microsoft Sound Recorder program and then import the sound files into Music Creator. The problem that has risen is that since I installed MC3 on my new computer, I have not been able to playback what I've imported. Unfortunately, I didn't install the sample files, so I have no idea what is going on at all. If anyone out there has a clue what is going on (There is no doubt I've overlooked something trivial), I would be grateful for your help.

Edit: Here's a list of specs.
OS:Windows Vista
MC Program: Music Creator 3
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dualcore 4800+ 2.50 GHz
RAM: 3.5 Gigs
Soundcard: Onboard sound, Hewlett Packard motherboard. (side note: I do have another sound card that I have considered installing, but I've adapted the policy that if it's not broken, don't fix it.)

    Tell us:
What operating system you are using.
    What MC program you have.
    How fast is the processor.
    How much memory is installed.
    What sound card(s) {for Robo} are installed.

The more info you can give us at the outset, the better we can help you.

I think you just open an audio track, expand it so you can see the record meter, press the red 'R' on the audio track to arm it for recording, speak into the mic to set the level, using the Windows mixer and/or your sound card's mixer to adjust the level, then click the red 'R' on the transport toolbar to begin recording. Unless it's a USB mic, or Vista OS, or the sound card isn't supported........

    Hey Sam:

First off: Are you using your onboard soundcard that came with your computer to handle the recording of your audio. My guess is yes. If so, Just head up to the Options tab in MC3, and scroll down to Audio. Than select the appropriate drivers. You might have to run the wave profiler to get the WDM playback drivers. MIDI Mapper will not allow you to hear your playback.

I'd say go to OPTIONS>AUDIO, and see what's listed as your drivers first and foremost.
    2) If there is only Microsoft MIDI Mapper (or whatever it's called), run the wave profiler within the audio window, and close MC3.
    3) The onboard soundcard should now be listed that came with your computer, and it should show up in the drivers pull down tab.
    4) When you import the audio, make sure in the track properties of the track, that your In's and Out's match the soundcard you have on your computer (Sigmatel, etc).

You mentioned something about Vista OS. I've got a terrible feeling that it doesn't support MC3, especially after checking the drivers like Shredheadinstead recommended. It lists no drivers in either section, Input Drivers or Output drivers.
Is it simply that MC3 will not work with Vista?

sam is correct. MC3 needs XP to operate correctly. I have not heard of anyone that has been able to get MC3 fully functional using VISTA. you'll need MC4 for that - which I think is $50.
