Yes but then I realised that I hadn't turned on my computer.

Seriously mate - give us more info & maybe someone can help you. The precise exact steps you used to insert GR & how/what you recorded. System specs including audio interface is always a good start too.

Well...Let's see. The first thing I did was install the "Guitar Rig 2" program onto my computer. The second thing I did was Plug My guitar into my "Line 6 Toneport GX". The third thing I did was open Up "Guitar Rig 2". I then started to play my guitar using my new guitar rig Program and it worked just fine. The next thing I did was open up "Sonar 6 Producer edition" and record a few riffs on the guitar. As I was playing the guitar I could hear the "guitar Rig" effects, but as I played the recording back it sounded like an ordinary guitar sound. Sorry for not making It clear. Thanks!

Add Guitar Rig into your Audio FX bin for the audio track with guitar recorded.

Dude!!!! I'm so lost. I went to Process, Audio FX, Plug-in Layouts, Manage Layouts. The I selected from the colum to far left "Plug-in catagories" a file that says "DirectX Instruments (DXi). I then selected from the column next to that "NI GuitarRig2". After the two items are highlighted I press the button that says "Add Plugin" just to the right of the 2nd column. I then select "Close" and a window pops up promting me to name a file. I'm not sure what i'm doing.

Left click on the track number with the audio recorded. There should be a little box to the left side that says FX. Right click in that box and then hold the mouse over Audio FX. Move over to vstplugins and GR2 should be in the list. Left click on it and that will insert it.

Fair enough if gllcc wants to hold your hand but really... do ALL of the product tutorials first & maybe read some of the intro parts of the manual & THEN come back with specific questions.

The reason I say this is not to be unkind but because "Add Guitar Rig into your Audio FX bin for the audio track with guitar recorded." confused you. You have to get the basics down first, mate.

    Good luck.

when you're in the track view (the default)
click the "FX" tab at the bottom left.
click and drag open (make wider) the track you will use for guitar rig (you'll see an FX box to the right side of the left pane)
right click there, menu pops up, choose guitar rig
if you still don't hear anything, click the input echo button on that track (to the right of the M S R buttons)
    voila!
