Post cover songs? Allowed or not?

Short question:

Is it or is it not.... allowed to post cover songs?

I read THIS:

Copyrighted Material
Cakewalk forum users agree not to post any material that is protected by copyright, trademark or other proprietary right without the permission of the owner(s) of said copyright, trademark or other proprietary right.

But on sites like "soundclick.com" I found members posting coversongs.....

So, surely you can a clear the case.....

Many people do. As long as you're not trying to sell it. I've done 2 in the past.

    Hmmmm....

    I won't and don't wanna sell it!

Don't know how the international law about those things is...?!? In Germany we're not allowed at all to make such Covers public - only when permission exists....

Laws? We don need no stinkin laws!

Post whatever you like. Just don't screw with the Beatles. That advice comes courtesy of Peter Frampton.
