Give us excessive details about your hardware, settings, and what you are doing. When it "shuts down", is the program crashing, or is your Audio engine stopping? The feedback probably relates to a setting, so give as much info as you possibly can.

What keyboard? What is connected to what via MIDI? What is connected to what via USB? What OS are you using? Are you using a softsynth, Sounds from the keyboard, the Microsoft Wavetable synth? What exactly do you see when it "shuts down"? What is happening when it shuts down? What settings do you see in Windows Volume Control, both Playback and Recording? Sorry, but you are the only one that can see and hear your computer. You are our eyes and ears as we try to find the problem, and many things can come into play.

jovani181, when you type in ALL CAPS in a forum, that's considered YELLING. OS = Operating System, such as Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Vista, etc. - so you answered by saying you are running Vista A factory realtek sound card is NOT "pretty decent" for recording. all onboard sound cards are actually just a chip on the motherboard that shares resources with the motherboard and CPU. when you said above in your original post, "it keeps on shutting down on me" are you referring to MC? which version of MC are you using? If MC3 or earlier, it's not Vista compatible and you'll have to buy MC4 in order to get it to work correctly with Vista.
