Battery within Project5 within Sonar?
So I'm getting back into creating some music again after a long hiatus. Of course I'm right back to the same place I was before, trying to find a "good" way to edit drums with Sonar. I'm mainly looking for triggering samples within Battery and possibly StylusRMX (in kit mode). I've used the Sonar piano roll in the past, but I'm looking for something more step-sequencer like... quicker to edit, etc. I know lots of folks use Project5 or FLStudio within Sonar for editing drums and other midi. Would Battery within Project5 within Sonar be a good solution? I'm assuming you could load Battery into Project5 like any other VST and use Project5's midi patterns to trigger Battery samples? I also have a new laptop for my day job that I could throw Project5 or FLStudio on to do some quick writing when I'm on the road, etc... but my main interest in Project5 or FLStudio would be for editing midi to be used within Sonar. Thanks, Mike

that is exactly what i do. Sonar rewire P5 as slave and battery is in p5 as VST. Works like a charm

not to hijack the thread, crabtwins do you know how to send reveb on a particular cell in Battery 3. The master ends up sending it to all cells. Someone told me I should assign a channle. Great.. where is the channel on master . I can see it on cell page not the master..anyone would know point me how to go about it ? I asked in their forum but I dont expect an answer any time soon ....

Hey Markus, are you trying to use Battery 3's built-in reverb or an external reverb?

Markus I hated that. I dont know why it does that but I couldnt find the setting that takes it out. But if you click on the little red box in the bottom left of the matrix it will highlight all the cells. Then just go to the effects tab and turn down the reverb dial. It will take them all down.

Markus, you can adjust the reverb for any single cell by first clicking on that cell, and then adjusting the reverb level. If you want to adjust a group, control-click on each cell you want to adjust, and then adjust the level. Cheers, Russ

Another random, thread stealing question (sorry mikeleuz)... The other night I couldn't get the delay effect in the master tab to work. Other effects were working fine but not delay. Any thoughts? eric

Any thoughts? Yes. Don't use the built in effects. I don't see them as much more than a cheap "sell" for new customers to buy into the product. If you really want to make good use out of Battery 3, then bypass it. Route every cell in use to it's own output. Then you are free to use real plugins on your cells. I'm new to Project 5, however, in Sonar this is what I would do. Route each cell to its own output (track) in Sonar for per track FX. Route all of those tracks to a bus, with "overall" effects. Also, route each track PRE FX to a send, and leave it clean to blend in (use sends esp on acoustic kits).

eric - did you have the delay send level on the Effects tab turned up for the cell(s) you were trying to add delay to? Also, I know it's obvious, but did you have the Delay turned on in the Master section? Forgetting to click that little icon has thrown me off on more than one occasion.

I agree that this is a better approach - I actually convert each drum part to audio (usually groove clips) before adding send effects. That said, Battery 3's built-in effects do sound pretty good compared to the effects included in most VSTs that I've heard. They're also pretty handy when you are throwing together a scratch track and want the drums to approximate the sound you're looking for, but without the hassle of setting up multiple tracks, routing effects, etc.

I'll check about the send level. And 一般的ãªè³ªå•, that's the solution I typically go with. I use mfm2 for delays usually and I route cells to different audio outs. I was playing around with the internal effects for grins . I do disagree with your assessment that the Battery effects are cheap. They're not the greatest, but I find some of them quite useful. The bitcrusher is every bit as good as P5s, the filter is pretty nice. etc. You can also achieve some nice effects with the articulations (flam, rolls, etc) eric
