2.5 sucks!!!

So, I'm going through the list of new features (I mean the website, don't even think I'm going to install this monster) and I just don't know what all the hype has been about.

I mean, just look at these stupid features:

1) Multiple Audio I/O: What is this for? Who in their right mind would want to do something like recording several tracks (e.g., a choir, or a drum kit) at the same time? Why would anyone want to use extra audio outputs to run softsynth tracks through external effect devices and such? Useless.

2) Configurable MIDI Outputs and External MIDI Tracks: Do I look like I still use hardware synths? Has anyone at cakewalk taken a look at the studio pictures thread? We want more premade loops, baby, not the ability to use old phat hardware MIDI gear.

3) Pre/Post Aux Sends: Why do they have to make everything more complex? Can't they just leave things as they are? I have already pulled all my hair in desperation when trying to set up a drum bus in P5. Now you're denying me the right to that feeling. Thank you very much.

4) Export Pattern as MIDI: There we go again with this old and abused MIDI thing. With all this stupid sh*t you have included in the update, who would EVER use this feature?

All this useless stuff you had us waiting half a year for, and still no extra 150-bpm 4-on-the-floor dance loops. Oh, yeah, good ol' Dimension now supports REX (most of us have Dim Pro, anyway), but where are the DAMN LOOPS?

    You forgot about how dumb input quantize is as well (I hope I'm reading this right - tongue-in-cheek - I've never been that good at wiseassology. That's one area I'm really challenged in the music biz. I spend too much time learning music and not enough time learning how to be a better wiseass.)

    I think your attitude sucks. I am not radically impressed with the update either but "2.5 sucks" just makes you look bitter and childish. Your website shows a list of outboard synths :
    Hardware synthesiers:

    * Akai S2800 sampler w/10 Mb
    * Clavia Nord MicroModular
    * Emu ESI-2000 sampler with 72 Mb and 100 Mb ZIP drive
    * Emu Proteus 2/XR
    * Ensoniq ESQ-1 expanded
    * Korg ER-1
    * Korg MS-2000R (2x)
    * Synthesizers.com small modular (16 modules)
    * Waldorf Microwave XT
    * Yamaha DX-200
    * Yamaha P80 Digital Piano
    * Yamaha SU-10 sampler

    And yet you complain that you never use them.

    Whatever the reason for cakewalk doing what they did you dont have to $hit allover their efforts like that. How would you like it if we went over to your website and with all the work you put into it....we said....."your music sucks!"

    I dont understand all the hype either like 2.5 was going to be a whole new product. I wish they would just ask us what we want and implement what we ask for. HOW many people asked for midi out?

    GO get your canned loops somewhere else or you can try making some music yourself. I do not want more loops. I want a better plugin manager, custom color palettes, better meters, better rewire synergy.

    Judaman, I think you read his post "wrongly". Try thinking of reading it like it was said sarcastically. The complaint was so over the top that it made it more obvious, but as usual the written word is so easily misunderstood when taken out of context. My own post was in a similar vein, there is much to admire about the new P5 2.5, there are still a few things I can see, but its definitely a good step in the right direction.

    Hi, judaman.

    As people have already pointed out, I was only joking. I don't really think P5 2.5 sucks at all. In fact, I am one of those who asked for MIDI out, Pre/Post buses, and multiple audio outs. It is because of those features that I end up using Sonar most of the time, so I'm excited to see them as part of P5. I love using my hardware synths and I rarely use premade loops in my music.

    I would have liked to see more Velocity kits in this update, though.

    Peace!

    Yeah, but the velocity kits would end up meaning a much, much larger download, which by the looks of things may become the main way of selling Project5.

    What about some of the better request that have been ignored with this update!!!

    1. DXi Metrotome...I think we're all dying to play some patterns with that bad boy

    2. Custom Mouse Pointers...where are the dandy quarter-note cursers...this valued feature would ensure P5's domination

    3. Where are the cute sound effects when we click the Show/Hide buttons??? I don't know how we live without them

    4. We absolutely must have the ability to change the font for the time/measure window....MUST

    5. Verticle scrolling Piano-roll window.....need we say more?

    6. Animated Cartoon "helpers" that spring up with the click of the "Help-button" to guide us through the canals of P5

    7. It's been requested time and again...Can we Please move the "options-menu" four [4] spaces to the left between the "Edit" and "Process" menus...I think we can all agree this would improve our game.

    8. Reverse CPU meter to show how much [%] we have left to use...it's almost rude the way we have to decipher it now

    9. No more cryptic icons to represent Midi....Is it a keyboard or a comb??? Can we please stop the confussion!!!

    10. Secret-Blood-From-Ears-Loud-Volume-Setting that can be engaged when we 'step away for donuts' to ensure our work goes "untouched" by the curious and unbelievers.......this has long been a favored request by The Cakewalk Faithful....

    What are you guys going on about multiple outputs fantastic i use creamware cards and have been waiting for this feature since i bought this program im planing to use this rig live in the near future it now means i can use the creamware mixer along side project5 and use project5 just as an instrument as for the rest of the features i havent looked at them but what more do you want in the way of a free update. Yea sure project5 could be a little more alberton live like in the sence of it could have some of the more real time time streching effects but i would not trade in project5 for anything in the world as it one of the most easy sequencing programs to use i tend to use it as a sequencer and instrument rack more than i do sonar 6's seqencer and instrument rack. Guys get a life complain all you like about the lack of an alberten live like program but i think that project5 will improve in this area over the next couple of updates. Ive used all the major sequencers over the last few years and i can say this Logic, Junk, Cubase, Junk, Alberton Boring and Junk and dont get me started about Pro Fools.
    I am a trainee audio engineer studying at RMIT UNI Melbourne and my rig is P5 Sonar 6 Producer and 1 Pulsar2, 2 Luna creamware cards

    What kind of track do you want (me) to do?

    1) Dance
    2) Trance
    3) Danceable Trance

    I would also request for the following distinctly different beat type:
    Techno
    Dance
    Trance
    Techno Dance Trance
    Techno Tech
    Techno Dance Trance Tech
    Techno Rap
    Gangsta Dream Trance Disco Tech
    Techno Dream
    Techno Wet Dream
    Wet Disco Industrio HeadNod
    Anti Suck Brain Bleed (Techno) Suicide Trance

    Well, that's enough for now.
    All I really want is for P5 to do it all for me.
    Why should I have to work hard in order to suck?
    P5 should automatically make me suck.

    I should be able to click one button and suck, and go get coffee while it happens.
