Hey, my first day here...
I've been a Sonar user since version 2 and a Cakewalk user back when it was called Cakewalk and the company was Tweleve Tone. Thought I'd join here. Some of you may know me from the Tascam SX-1 forum.

Welcome! Now post your obligatory soundblaster thread so we can all hop on the newb! J/K... I've only been on board since Pro Audio 5 so you've got more history than I do, just less time wasted in this place.

ORIGINAL: SXSURFER I've been a Sonar user since version 2 and a Cakewalk user back when it was called Cakewalk and the company was Tweleve Tone. Thought I'd join here. Some of you may know me from the Tascam SX-1 forum. Welcome ! I started off on the Tweleve Tone Cakewalk for DOS back before computers could do audio. I had it synced up to my ADAT tape machines via MIDI and a JLCooper DataSYNC. Back in those days it only did MIDI and that drove external tone modules and keyboard and I just ran the output of those into the mixer to blend with the ADAT tape tracks in real time to a DAT machine for the final mix. The only thing I miss about the DOS version is the fantastic scrolling event view that would always stop right on event that was playing when you hit the space bar. For about 10 years they couldn't get that working in Windows it would page and flash and drive me crazy. It's "almost" working right now in Sonar but still doen't stop at the correct spot everytime. The list can move on you but it's far better then the early Windows versions. Things sure have changed.. now with Sonar almost eveything is done inside the computer. My two huge racks of tape machines and effects boxes are gone, the big Mackie 24 channel mixer is gone, the mile and a half of wire is gone (good ridance !). My poor studio doesn't even look like a studio now. But I sure do love the automation and effects in Sonar. The abitlity to back up a project is nice too.
