Edting Audio Tracks Question

Hi guys,

New to the whole Sonar thing (used Cubase a bit before) so please forgive me for this easy question I'm sure. Bought sonar 6 power but still can't figure ti out. So.. I want to add delay to a specific part of an audio track. I can't seem to get into a view like in Cubase where I can select a little part of the track and add the effect. What looks like it should work is the loop construction page but all of the select features are blanked out and only work when I enable looping (I don't want this). What screen do I go into where I can select parts of an audio track and add effects to specific parts?

Thanks,

D

In the track view, you can insert a effect in a particular clip. So first make a clip of the part you want to add the effect to.
Rightclick on the clip and choose "Insert Effects"

    Thanks,

So am I correct in saying all of the audio track editing is done from the main screen unlike midi editing (piano roll view etc.) ? Is there no way to go into an individual audio track or is it unnecessary in Sonar?

All the tracks show up in Track View and in Console view. MIDI, Audio (including those with loops), and Software synth tracks all show up together. You can arrange them in folders, hide, archive, and re-arrange them how ever you need.

But back to your question if you want an effect on just part of a track and not the entire track you can split on both sides of the area you want the effect (S key) and then you have a clip there you can select and right click on to add effects, envelopes, etc. You can also roll up each end (slip edit) just like a loop.

That is indeed unnecesary. Just select the track you want to edit and zoom in.

Only the loop contruction view is a separate view for editing audio.

In my opinion it is sometimes "crowded" in a track with layers, audiosnap transient markers, fade outs and envelopes. Sometimes difficult to select the right control. Maybe a differtent view could be handy. Clip view or something.
