Difference between DimPro and Dim-Version inside Project5
Is there any difference between those.... If yes: is the difference in the library or the features? Or where? Why that question? Well: - Upgrading to Sonar7 --> 94 EUR Upgrade price for DimPro (I think it's no more available..) - Upgrading to Project5 as a registered Sonar-User: 99 EUR!!! But that would not only include the Version of Dim in Project (with 3GB library) but a whole bunch of features in P5 besides the sequenzer itself..... http://www.ediroleurope.com/europe/pages.asp?p=details&id=18&la=DE&idm=2&grp=212&code=371 Would the Dim Version of P5 be usable in other application (outside P5)??? Anyone? edit: I found out that the lib in DimPro offers 7 GB of samples and struff..... http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/DimensionPro/preset.asp But then again: what about the features? They are MORE than the LE Version - that's a fact, but does it even reach DimPro workabilty?

Yes, there are more features in Dim Pro for molding sound. For instance, I don't believe the excellent envelope control section exists in LE, and the filter/effects are also limited. The LE products are a teaser--you can hear what the presets sound like. If you want to program your own sounds, then you need the full versions of both Dimension Pro and/or Rapture. Aren't the feature sets listed over in the Product description sections of the website? Also, you may be able to find a video demonstration of these products that may give you additional insight.

There are three different products in the Dimension "family": Dimension: originally shipped with Project5 2.0 in the box on DVD with 3GB of multisample content. This was only available with the original Project5 2.0 box. This started the revolution. (Project5 2.0 Press Release) Dimension Pro: a seperate and more advanced and feature rich version of Dimension introduced a little while later after the original Dimension that was bundled with Project5. This is sold as its own boxed product and included two DVDs full of multisample content (approximately 8GB). This is really the monster to have and thus far it has been offered at special pricing in combination with other software offers. There are two free expansion packs for this software as well as a free online update to the 1.2 version. (Dimension Pro Product Page) Dimension LE: a stripped-down version of Dimension Pro which removes some of Dimension Pro's GUI controls and other features. More limited content than Dimension Pro--not sure how its content compares to the original Project5 2.0 Dimension. This is a great freebie with Project5 2.5 and SONAR 7--good to get your feet wet and if you get hooked you might be buying Dimension Pro before you know it. (Dimension LE Product Page)

ahh... many thanks, bob! That's what was MY suggestion.... If I understand it correctly: The "Dimension" which is mentioned on the germen site of edirol (you mentioned that one on the first position) is no more included in the project5 package, wright?

ORIGINAL: MountainKing The "Dimension" which is mentioned on the germen site of edirol (you mentioned that one on the first position) is no more included in the project5 package, wright? If you can find the origintal version 2.0 boxed product you would still get the original Dimension in that case. But if you order the 2.5 version (download or boxed) you would get Dimension LE. I don't believe the original Dimension is available in the Project5 2.5 release. I don't really know since I bought the version 2.0 fully boxed and upgraded to 2.5 for free. My system has all three Dimension products installed.

Since I know about the difference..... I'd NOW like to know: Are the included synths (first regard for me is Dimension) usable in third party applications? Or are they restrained to P5?

They are usable in third party applications that support DXi as opposed to VSTi, with one exception Studioverb 2 is locked into Project5.

ORIGINAL: MountainKing THX! And that can be said about both versions ...? Box and Download (I guess this upgrade offer is a download version) Hmmm, are you sure the upgrade is a download version?? I think it would be a rather big download! (large sample libraries). Anyhow, the actual plugin itself is only a few MB. It would definately surprise me if it didn't come with both DXi and VSTi versions.

Also AU format for Mac.

...multisample content (approximately 8GB)... It appears to be all 16-bit samples though. I would have expected 24-bit.

Hmmm, are you sure the upgrade is a download version?? No, I'm not sure indeed - I just thought so..... But it's true: 7 GB is a lot of stuff! Should be an boxed version I suppose....
