Any opinions on these two? Waves has zNoise on sale this month. That's why I was asking. I have sound forge noise Reduction stuff and Waves x-noise. Always looking for something better.

Thanks,

read the latest sound on sound, waves got wiped by wavearts, big time

secondly, the advancd features in izotopes $1100 package would only be needed by dedicated restoration experts

lastly, the izotope examples sound great, and the features in the $199 one are still more than the waves anyway!

I am going to buy it today personally.

I played with the Ozone RX (10-31-07) I did some noise reduction stuff, some click and pop removal. I also did one instance of clipped audio restoration. All of these were very nice, just not enough to buy another package. Then I played with the spectrum replace in Ozone RX. It was so good I went and bought the package. I did some test with an audio file that had a BIG pop in it (from a wireless EV mike being turned off and on). These kinds of pops are too big for Sony Noise ( I almost typed in Sound Forge!) reduction, and Waves X-Click. It was not a problem for RX!! That was amazing. I also tested with a defective file from a dat tape. The DAT tape had a bad dropout and no sound at all for a tiny bit. I selected the empty section and clicked !!POW!! there was sound! The edits that RX did were amazing! The section was flawlessly replaced. I did install Wave Arts new version and tried it out. I might have missed something, but I was not all that impressed with it. I still have a bias against the company when they would not fix the GUI bug they had if you used anything other than the windows desktop - small fonts settings on your computer, you could not read the settings on GUI. It was fixed in V4, but I did not want V4 I just wanted V3 to work like it should have. I'll have to read that SOS, thanks for mentioning it. I also installed the Waves Z-Noise demo. I love the way you can process only certain frequencies and not have to process the whole frequency spectrum. I was working on remastering some session that were recorded in another studio a few years ago. It was Karaoke (cassette / with recorded voices). I was able to set up Z-Noise to process the 4K area only a little, the 8K area a tiny bit more and the 12-20K even harder. This is great. I also set it up to process 0K to 60K. That took some rumble off the bottom. The quality of the finished CD was great. By not prosessing the center frequencies, it sounded like nothing had been altered at all! The only things I don't like about it is that the "Q" of the EQ filters will not go low enough, and it sucked the life out of my processor!! I forgot to say that I bought the Waves too, partly because it was on sale for 460, but also because to the EQ. I forgot to mention the "Adaptive" button. That was the final thing that pushed me into buying the waves one too. The Adaptive setting will lower the thresholds of noise when the passages of music get softer. This allows the soft passages to get noise reduced relationally the same as the louder parts. In Waves X-Noise and Sony, you would be able to here the noise creep back in soft passages if you adjusted/setup the thresholds at a medium or loud volume. I guess if I could only buy one I would have bought the RX. It is by far the most bang for the bucks. Can't wait till the plugin version is released.
I gotta get back to work!!!
