Simple Backing Tracks - what programme?

Dumbass newbie question here, so sorry in advance.

I have a GT5 boss pedal and normally buy all my backing tracks, but now looking for something that both has the ability to play some preset ones (like a sequencer - that maybe I can edit) and the ability to plug my GT5 in and lay down some chord progression and loop them so to jam over.

Does any of the cakewalk programmes offer this? I would prefer one that is simpliest to use. Seem a few on the net but the sound is awful.

Also Im guessing it isnt to hard to plug my gt5 into this software ?

Well, you can do that to a degree with GT, by using Acid Loops and building up backing tracks, but you may be better going for Music Creator or even Home Studio if you want to spend a little more. These programs have MIDI capability so you can download MIDI files of whole songs and play over them, or create your own drum patterns etc using softsynths.

    HTH.

Yep, just take a line-out from the unit to the line-in on the PC soundcard....which you'll want to upgrade fairly soon, if it's the onboard soundchip, but that's for another time.

    BTW - who's Steve...?

    Strummy,

I have a cure for that. Take 500mg of ginko biloba with a shot of Glenmorangie followed by a pint of Guinness. That should take care of the temporary amnesia. If that doesn't work try a I - IV- V blues progression for about 30 minutes and you should be as good as new!

Which? The Ginko/Glenmorangie/Guinness? Or the I-IV-V progression? Or both?
