Entertaining books or videos about making music?
Do any of you remember that
Digi 001 / ProTools promotional video? There's a guy in his [really cool] house with his band mates and they're talking about the Digi 001 and ProTools... and meanwhile they're building up a song from scratch. And slipping in lots of jokes...
I've watched that video like 3 times, even though it's ancient and I don't have either the Digi 001 or ProTools.
The reason I like it is it's FUN to watch. The main host is charismatic and self-deprecating and funny (in a slightly effeminate sort of way).
Anyway, I'd love to find a book or video which has a similar "feel". Where the emphasis is on being entertaining, funny, and personal rather than simply informative.
You know, kinda like Bill Bryson's
A Walk in the Wild, which talks about his very amateurish trip up the Appalachian Trail. Not the most informative read, but very fun!
Recommendations?
