Emu 6400 Samples and Dimension Pro

I have a stack of samples for my Emu 6400 Hardware sampler. The Cd's are not recognised as having any content. Is there anyway I can read the cd and convert to a fomat for Dimsion Pro?

There’s sample format converter software available if you need to convert, such as Translator, Extreme Sample Converter, etc.

On another note, you say there appears to be no data showing on the disc. Is the data still good?

The other day I loaded up a CDR that I burned ….maybe 5 years ago. It was full of old original material I had recorded years ago. The disk is now unreadable. This is the first time I’ve run into this, but have heard that this does happen to some discs…sometimes after only a couple of years.

Usually those disks are not recognized by windows, but a sampler like Kontakt will most likely see it, so you can import. I've never had a chance to import Emu sounds, but I've imported quite a few Akai disks. Window doesn't see the disk, but Kontakt does. It's possible that the sample converter software works the same.

I think it's more the case that windows can see it, it states the disc is full with no bytes. Its a CD set that came with the sampler, ie manufactured not created by me.
I'll have a look at Translator, Extreme Sample Converter

    NIce one guys

This is where Kontakt 2 really shines.

Kontakt reads EMU sample CDs fine.

    No translator is perfect though.

Simple patches like drum kits, basses works great, but anything that relies on envelopes, filters, and lfos, you can be pretty sure that you will have to retweak the program.

Ok so Kontact takes not just the samples, but the pragrame settings too. I'm just after the samples, as nearly all the programmes were set up in ways I didn't want. Partly because I use a wind minid controller and not a keyboard. I also can spend any more money at the moment and apart from prefering ADSR, I would like to see how Dimension pro does.

\there was a trial version of Extreme Sampe Convertor, but it couldn't see the file either, so I a guessing it may need to be a 2 stage process, taking the samples from the cd, then converting the format?

Hi Scoot, totally off topic here but what kids television programme is that as your avatar? I remember watching that as a kid but I can't remember what it's called!

The Emulator X software sampler will load and play those e6400 CD's directly with no translation issues....just another option in case you are not satisfied with translations.

Have you tried Chicken Systems translator? http://www.chickensys.com/

That might work since they did the import software for Kontakt 2.

I have the Extreme Sample TConverter v3 (www.extranslator.com) and I´ve used it to convert my Emu CD's (EIII and ESI format) and Akai CD´s (S1000 and S3000 format) to sfz, so I can load them into Dimension Pro. It works great but it does not convert filter or effect parameters, so you may have to do some tweaking in Dimension Pro.
