"TribalTechno" - Intense

....... This is what happens when you find cool new ways to play with your musical toys.

Seriously, I was majorly inspired by some of the unique and divergent music being produced by folks like Larry Hansen and Nick Taylor. Here's my contribution.

This is a mix of tribal rhythm influences from: Innuit native music, Masai Warrior Chants, Aboriginese of Australia, and Buddhist monks of Tibet.

I hope you enjoy. I would love to hear what you think!!

    Matt,
It's about time that those little green men come after you and leave me alone!! Bring the guitar up a bit more man. This is really, really cool. I picture somebody running and hiding. Definitly tribal! Are you out of breath yet? This was well done and I loved your choice of instrumentation, fx, playing, and the overall song structure. Isn't it nice to go "bonkers" every now-and-then?

Matthew - man, what a trip! Great to see you're experimenting in different waters. Nice, one really. Question: Did you do the vocal tracks, or are these samples?
    Extremely cool, man!

Duane: Thanks buddy! Hehe, Larry started it! I'll take another pass with the guitar levels.

Larry: Thanks, once I started, I couldn't help but hope that this starts a trend of experimentation on the forum. What I've heard so far is very cool. Nice to go 'bonkers' some times? It's always lovely.

Heinz: Thank you. I was wondering if someone would ask about the vocals. It's all me via my MXL microphone. The trick to the multi-layering and repeats is in the Sonitus Delay I used. I had it set to 0% feedback, one repeat and set the BPM to 100 to match my tempo. All instruments were built from VST's accept of course the guitar. Thanks for checking it out!

That's spectacular, absolutely stunning, great electronics and vocal lunacy and the guitar work was fantastic. It sounds excellent, there is that section where the guitar is arguably a little low in the mix but i think it works well back there with the rhythmic stuff up front and present over it so if you do bring that up i'd aim to keep that relationship...it is a little quiet there. Really fine work.

Matthew, I have to agree with Nick on this one. The guitar is good in the back ground for this type of jam, otherwise it would take away from the overall song. Nice work on the vocals (per what you told Heinz), and the mix is fantastic. I guess I'll have to try some tribal stuff with my Kinetic 2 and see what happens there. Great guitar licks! Overall great tribal jam and instrumentation work out, that's for sure. Thanks for sharing, it was great! John

Man, that is some unique stuff!!

It's a cross between Indian chant & beat box.. Wow!! what a combination!! This is just a cool piece of music. It's filled out nicely with a nice combination of beats. That techno pad adds a lot.

    I loved it man!!!

Lots of fun stuff going on here, Matt. Cool to see people exploring and blowing the sides off the box.
I particurly like that voodoo segment at 3:20. A seed for another song.

Nick: My wife loved your comment on 'vocal lunacy'. It totally expresses what this piece is. I'm glad you mentioned your thoughts on the lead guitar. I too felt that the level worked well for this song, but might use a volume envelope to slightly fine tune it a little in some parts. Thanks again!

THEGUITARPLAYER: Thanks for the confirmation on the guitar levels. It's really hard for me to take the lead guitar down so much in the mix, but with this song being so different, I felt it was suitable. And it really seems to work! I totally encourage you to explore some of those rhythms and what the single repeat delay can produce. I first used it years ago for some of my guitar parts. It makes for some very interesting riff progressions, particularly when you alternate 3rds when playing a scale. Thanks for your comment.

Tim: Thank you sir. I'm glad you had a chance to take a listen!

Robert: I'm with you on that. My favorite part is the transition at 3:20 too. I may expand on that and use it for another tune. Perhaps a part two. Thanks for posting!
