New Song: Opinions?

What do you guys think of this SONG?

I recorded it with my Ibanez RG3120 into a PodXT then into Sonar Home Studio 6 XL. I used a Presonus Inspire GT as my soundcard. Also, I recorded the drum parts with a Zoom drum machine (I played the drum part on the pads LOL) and the bass part was also recorded the same way (pads). The orchestral parts were created with Garritan Pocket Orchestra in Sonar.

Any thoughts?

HI there, I really like where this song is going, good guitar exotic scale, but in my humble opinion I think the orchestra in the intro is a bit too loud and the drums need a litle boost to stand out too , also try some effects when mixing ( not too much ) it might be enough to make the song come alive.

Another thing, I´m thinking about buying a PODXT for direct recording, do you think is a good asset to have in the studio?

    Thanks,
    Pedro.

Hi, Pedro, thanks for listening and thanks for your comments. Your feedback is exactly what I'm looking for, thanks! I'll work on your suggestions.

As for your question, the PodXT (or any of the Pod devices) are awesome. You're not going to get them to sound EXACTLY like a Tube amp, but they're very useful for demoing ideas or even including sounds in a final mix if you know how to tweak it. If you buy one, expect to spend A LOT of time tweaking, but it's worth it.

I gotta agree. A lot of people don't like PODs or what they "stand for" but I use one all the time, and people never tell me my guitar tone sucks. (Whether the song I use it in is any good is another matter, of course...).

I use one too, and no complaints what's so ever .

The drums really need more punch. Nice guitar playing !!

well....this is from another RI/mass guy (now living in Virginia) great playing the lead is a lil overwhelming as it pretty much takes over. I find it hard to mix myself at times as after playin a part (and a killer part like that) I tend to run it too hot. I think if you back off on the lead a bit it will put everything into focus.

    great job!! GOOO PawSox!

Thanks for your comments, guys -- I will definitely make sure that I adapt the recording to include all of these things. Will repost it later.

Pretty cool tune man. Nice tone on the guitars. I gotta second the comment from thepogue though. Other than that I think it is a great song to polish up.
