How do you reverse a track?

I can't find out how to flip a track around so it plays in reverse. Im using guitar tracks 2.0 and the help feature says that you can but doesn't show how. Any help would be appreciated.

It's been a while since I've used 2.0 but I believe you can click on the clip, then in the 'process' drop down menu (top left) select 'reverse'.

I can't find the menu you're talking about. This isn't guitar tracks pro if that makes any difference.

    jamzor is correct.

    ... gniretsameerf ...... gniretsameerf ..... gniretsameerf ......

If that doesnt work then you can stand on your head and replay the track in edit view. That will make it appear in reverse.

If someone could show me a screenshot of this process menu it would help a lot because I can't find it anywhere. Also, what is freemastering?

    Hi Trevor

Jamz'or is right on the money, just follow the screenshot below in the Edit View Window, you need to first select the clip you want to reverse.

Left click in the clip to select it, then right click to open the drop-down list of options that appear - left click on 'Reverse' will reverse your clip.

If it's just part of a whole track you want to reverse, you'll have to isolate it from the rest of the track - to do this you need to Split at the start and at the end of the passage you want to reverse.

To do this place the cursor over the first point in the track to split - left click to select the exact place [use the zoom tool for extra accuracy if you need and turn off the 'Snap to' button in the menu bar], then right click to get the options again and select 'Split' from the list. Do this for the other end of the selection and you'll be left with the piece you want to reverse - just follow the tip above to reverse it.

Hope this helps - if you need a better screenshot, let me know and I'll get you one done at home.

    Good luck

    Steve

PS - Don't worry about what Pete's on about, he probably doesn't know himself, he's a toidi etelpmoc!! [Seriously, Jamz'or offers to help out forum members by mastering their songs - as Petey's never even recorded one yet, he won't need the service! Have a listen to some of the stuff Jamz'or's helped folk out with in the Songs forum - very impressive]

    Hi Trevor

I might have dropped a clanger here - is your version GT2 or GTPro2?

If it's the Pro2 the explanation will work OK:

Unfortunately, if it's the 8 track GT2, I'm afraid the Reverse option was not available on this earlier version:

Sorry if I've lead you up the garden path there.

Dropping a clanger is to have made an obvious mistake. Thought to be originated in the English Army. Equivalent to US military slang of SNAFU.

    That could be it...lol

You seem very imaginative. You should post some of your music one of these days.

    ORIGINAL: Jessie Sammler

Well, I know what it means, but how does it mean it? I mean, if Steve were literally dropping a clanger, what would the clanger be? Is it a metal tub full of stainless steel flatware onto a tile floor in an echoey restaurant, so it makes a series of gigantic clanging sounds and everyone turns to look?

    Hi Jessie

I think a clanger is another word for the 'clapper' in a bell - either the dangly bit of metal inside that rings the bell when the bell is moved or the mallet that strikes a stationary bell.

An example used in an electric bell from Wiki:

In DC electric bells, when power is applied, current flows through the coil. The coil becomes an electromagnet, attracting the metal strip. This moves the clanger to hit the bell, but also breaks the circuit. The coil is no longer a magnet, so the clanger moves back. The circuit is thus restored. The process repeats continuously until the power is removed.

I suppose 'dropping a clanger' would therefore refer, as you say, to the embarrassment factor regarding the noise of mishandling such an object or maybe [campanologists please help me here] to a mistake made by a bell ringer who mistimes his pull and the clanger fails to ring the bell at the right moment

However, when I were just a wee lad we used to get a TV program called 'The Clangers' who lived on another planet and communicated using a sound similar to the whining sound made when blowing over the business end of a bicycle pump while expelling and sucking in air - sounds pretty much like Pistolpete [our very own bell-end ringer] I think I should add!!

    The Clangers:
