My Story (not controversial..)

This is straight out of mixing. I still might have a couple minor tweaks to complete this one. Let me know if you hear anything that can improve in the mix, & what you think of the song. This is my testimony in a song.

I slowly closed the door

I lost hope when depression consumed me Lord

Tired of living life in sin

    Solid stuff, good track, well produced. The instruments sound really nice, particularly the mellotronish flutes and the bass (who played the bass? what bass?) the vocals sound too dry...kind of sounds like a mix in progress with the vocals being the next and final step.

    I liked the story of the song. Some powerful stuff and very good arrangement. Sounded good to me on my head phones. The piano at the end was really interesting because it sounded as if it was being pulled away from the listener and faded into a big empty hall. You should make a video for this.

    Opaque slogan- I'm trying to figure out if I need to suggest to my engineer that he needs to add more verb. You feel pretty confident on that? Bass was performed by my producer, Patrick Andrew. Bass is him instrument, & he really did a great job bringing my songs to a higher level with his bass playing. He's exceptional on that instrument. I'm not sure which bass he used. Thank you for your feedback.

    To me, it definitely needs more reverb, yes.

    I spoke to my engineer on that same point with America Repent. He said it was a taste thing. I've got to start listening to some other artists & see what I think. Compare my vocal to other artists, & see how the current vocal mix stacks up. But I believe you are probably right. I need more verb. Thank you!

    Tim, great song and testimony. Love the chorus and the way you ended the song with it, how you just continued to build on it. I do agree about the vocals, they need something, but I'm not smart enough to tell what; just know they sound too "dry" like Nick was saying. Excellent work Tim, and really an inspiring song........I can relate to the message. Thanks.

    thank you! Yes, I really need to make that judgement call on the vocals. my engineer is saying that he likes the vocal the way it is.. So I'm really diving into that.

    Tim - you could ask your engineer to print you a track with additional verb on the vocals then A/B compare the two tracks over a few days to see which one you prefer. Just a thought.
