sonar + realtek hd (laptop)

i'm aware that the onboard realtek hd soundcard on a laptop (macbook pro in my case) is not meant for serious music-making, and i have a saffire pro to take care of that.

however, at times, i would like to just load up a sonar project when i have no access to my audio interface and perhaps edit in some new tentative ideas, in which case the audio quality is not that important.

i have tried running every driver mode (mme, wdm, asio using asio4all) and even at maximum latency setting, i am getting constant breakups (which sounds like fuzz distortion).

initially, i thought the soundcard just doesn't cut it at all, until i loaded some ableton live demo songs which played fine at about 21 ms (44100).

Realtec isnt a reocmended sound card for audio recording. you wont get any ware near the performance or sound quality of a real audio sound card. Youve got this wonderfull fantastic recording program, i dont see any reason why you would use an onboard sound card with it. Decent sound cards are really cheap and and are way better and will give you less headaches. Just food for thought
