Cant save instruments

HI recently purchased MC4 mainly for recording guitar, however im now loving the MIDI files i can use for backing tracks, have enjoyed changing all the instruments with TTS to get a more realistic sounds, however i have been through the manual which by the way is either very poor im im a total numpty (yeah yeah ok) but i cant find how i can save / export my chosen instruments either back to the file or to a new file

is there a better manual online or a video tutorial because i think the supplied manual just happily meanders and skips its way merrily through the wilderness without imparting the slightest bit of knowledge, MC4 for dummies would help? just want a walk through of what each button is for

Thanks in anticipation

if you work thru the tutorials included with MC4 they will help you with learning to BOUNCE TO TRACK(S) and EXPORT, which is what I think you're asking about. when MC first starts up, there's a pop up window. click on the GETTING STARTED and work thru each of the tutorials. you might have to insert the TTS-1 in the first few tutorials because it assumes you have other synth sounds already started (which you probably don't).

I'm really not sure I understand what you're asking when you say that you have exported to mp3 and wave, but it reverts back to the original instrument set up in TTS. if you could explain more what you're talking about I might could help more with that.

i have tried the tutorials but they do not seem relevant

this is what i want to do with cakewalk MC4 for the moment:

Record guitar - which i can do
open downloaded .midi files of songs - also can do
change the instruments to more realistic sounds in MIDI file - can change with TTS soft synth but when song is restarted not all instrument selections are kept by TTS, i have stop track midway and have tried file - export- audio and selected MP3 this works apart from its not saving my instrument selections i have made in TTS, i haven tried saving the guitar track as yet either!

is there a walk through manual i could purchase, i contacted Scott R. Garrigus as he wrote a walk through for Sonar, but he has no plans to do so. someone should do this to make an absolutre mint!

what i am trying to achive is to have a practice playalong MIDI track where i can record the Guitar part myself and save the file, (i ideally i would like to be able to save the project with all its parts so should i choose to change instruments or guitar then i can but it would also be good to be able to save as MP3), which is why i have dowloaded midi tracks, but want them to sound more realistic which is why i have chosen the TTS instruments (would be grate full if anyone knows where i could get any more instruments)

can change with TTS soft synth but when song is restarted not all instrument selections are kept by TTS

then the problem is that you're saving it back as a MIDI file and not saving as a cakewalk project (cwp) file. you will loose all NON-MIDI information when saving as a MIDI file. TTS-1 is NOT part of the MIDI specification, therefore when you save it as a MIDI file you loose that information.

as for finding better sounds, it depends on what you want to pay for them. there are some really great sounds available for as much as $5000, $500, $100, and then there are also free sounds which some are decent but some are not. start looking at http://www.kvraudio.com they have a big library of synths and samplers and where you can get the ones that cost.

as for the help file, I just downloaded it myself and unzipped it and it didn't ask for a password, so I'm not sure what's going on. can anyone else confirm that it's asking for a password, please?

Thanks beagle that sort of worked bit not quite its a bit sporadic, i have tried saving as a bundle also as it advised the a pop up but even this doesnt always save all the changes to all the instruments

am i supposed to save as a different file name every time?

surely its not rocket science, all i want to do is open a midi track change the instruments to more realistic sounds and save! i will eventually record guitar also and want to save that

every time i make a change to an instrument i try to save, sometimes it will save changes to 1 instrument, but always i have to activete soft synth on all the track every time i open it, then have to reload instruments again mostly

    please help

saving as a bundle file doesnt' gain you any benefit unless you have audio tracks, if you're working only with MIDI, then just save as a project (cwp) file.

when saving as a cwp file it should save the changes you are making as long as:
    1) you don't have a hard code of a patch change in the EVENT list
    2) you are changing the patch in the TRACK PROPERTIES and NOT on the softsynth face itself.
