Sudden volume drop while playing controller

I'm using Sonar 5 on a 2ghz Dual Core with 2GB of Ram with a Soundblaster XFI soundcard. I use M-Audio Trigger Finger to play all my vsti instruments in Sonar 5.

Sometimes as I'm playing a certain part, not even recording it, just paying along with the rest of my recorded midi tracks. Suddenly the volume drops on the intrument that I'm playing. If I stop and resume again, the volume goes back to normal, but then again after a while the volume drops. Has anyone had this problem with any midi controller?

I've been experiencing that of late and I attributed it to perhaps it's the keyboard. I'm upgrading to another keyboard to see if it happens with this one. I originally have a M-Audio Oxygen 49. I'm upgrading to a Keystation 88 to see if that problem will go away.
