    NOT ECS

Asus/gigabyte as a minimum. preferably better. really high front side bus and highest L2 cache you can afford/find.

Just bought this and I will be putting a quad cor ei it soon. This is a GREAT board for sonar. It is a major favorite at new egg as well.

Any particular reason for saying this?

I'm *way* out of date when it comes to chipsets, so any info at all on how to catch up would be appreciated...

That Gigabyte looks like a decent board! The feature set looks just about perfect for a modern Intel-based DAW. As far as basic performance, you can read the reviews on newegg (overwhelmingly positive) and judge for yourself.

The P35 chipset is modern Intel and known to generally perform well with the Core2 architecture (great for Duo and Quad).

This chipset (if not this particular board - can't say on that) is used by the Pro-DAW makers.

After a little research, it looks like the key difference between the 975x and P35 chipsets is the max. system bus speed (P35: 1335MHz; 975x: 1000MHz).

Just get the damn board I recommended. You'll be happy. Have a nice day... come again :)

My reason it is a great chipset.... a great board with reviews to back it....

By the way get a Q6600 (G0 stepping-for cooler lower wattage), not Q6700, and with the board I suggested. Do a little research and if ya know somebody, get them to overclock it to 3.0 ghz and....

Have a nice day... come again : )
