Power amp for NS-10

Hi,

Are there any particular models of power amps that are known to be well matched to a pair of Yamaha NS-10 speakers? I have been temporarily using a hi-fi amp that is really hyping up the sound.

What power amp would you recommend?

Cheers,

Albert

I like the Crown D-50 or D-75 (I think those are the numbers), and some by UREI. Others I know have been very happy with Haflers.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

Seems difficult to get any of those names in the UK!

About the crown models, are you using one of these with a pair of NS10 speakers?

Anyone else have a suggestion? Local music stores are not very helpful...

Sorry about that. I didn't realize that you were in the UK. I got my UREI on ebay quite some time ago, and it has been great. I've been using it with Tannoy Reveals. I recommended the Crowns, because I have seen them in a few pro studio around here. Crown also has a reputation for building armor-clad power amps. So, as long as you're dealing with a reliable seller on ebay, a Crown amp should be a safe purchase.

The Hafler TA1600 is highly regarded here, quiet and powerful. It works great on my NS-10's. Not sure if you can find one in the UK or not?
