If you have the Alesis IO14 or the IO26 then get the new drivers here.

I hope they sort out some of the problems we are having

Hey Mike let me know if it works for you on Sonar 7.
I haven't updated Sonar yet because of know issues.

    Hey Ed,

The driver seem to work but what ever Cakewalk did to 7.02 is still not good.

I still get the "Unable to open audio playback device. Device may not support the current project's audio format or may be in use." error message, I can now get it every time using BFD2.

Here's an example: I load BFD2 in Sonar and start playback, then go to BFD2 mixer and try to change between the effects presets, I will either get the "unable to open bla bla" or it crashes Sonar.

In all fairness to Cakewalk and Alesis, it could be some start problems with the new BFD2 which are having a few teething issues as it is.

I will do some more tests during tomorrow and see if I can get the errors with other plugins, will let you know how I get on with it.

    Cheers

    Mike,
Thanks for posting this. Alesis also put up the drivers for the Multimix. I've tried it and I think WDM is much improved. All the in-between settings for latency work now, and no blue screens yet. Did get an app crash from the Alesis control panel, though.

As for the ASIO, no change in 7.0.2 here. One of us needs to donate our interface to Cakewalk so they can reproduce this. I'm sure it is not just BFD. I've had it with Dim Pro, Dim LE, and z3ta+. And I can reproduce it with a multitrack audio with latency set too low. That is, forcing dropouts also causes the "Unable to open ...".

    Hi Bill,

Was waiting for you to chime in

I think Alesis has done something wrong, I have had the Control panel crashing as well for the first time ever

Maybe I should give the WDM a test run and see if things becomes more stable.

Does this mean we are back at square one again, meaning that it is between the Sonar 7.02 upgrade, and ASIO drivers for audio interfaces with the DICE II chipset like Alesis IO26?
If this is the case shouldn't there be a lot more people complaining?

I am slowly loosing my patience(this is not directed at any one) with these issues that can't be resolved, so I think I will get a new audio interface as soon as the finances allows me to do so.

Shame I am really beginning to like my IO26 and would love it to work.

    Cheers

Oh well, WDM just blue-screened on me. DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and it says it's the Alesis driver.

    Mike,
There may be more former motorboaters than current Dice-II-ers. But it seems enough people have complained to raise concerns. More than just Dice-II interfaces are seeing the error message, but maybe not so reproducibly. It's the reproducible scenarios that Cakewalk needs to see to resolve this.

    Bill,

I just tested the WDM driver with the BDF2 and it worked like a charm, I could change between the presets as I would expect no crashes or error messages.

The downside off course is that the WDM will only do 44.1 and 48 khz sampling rate none above 48.

Well I am going to try and roll back to 7.01 tomorrow and see if it helps on the issues, then await any news from Cakewalk/Alesis about this mess.

    I'm off to bed goodnight.

Cakewalk if you read these posts, then please let us know it you want us to do any extended test to your specifikations, I am sure we all like to help if we can(no I did not mean come over and do the programming)

    Cheers

Well, if Cakewalk wants I'll gladly lend my Alesis i|o26 to them. I'm not using it at present - not sure what I'm going to do with it. I'm down in RI so it's not like it would be far to get it to them.

Of course, if anyone wants to buy, cold-hard cash is good, too.

I never had any trouble with the old Alesis IO26 drivers, but I'm just curious what issues people were having? I don't plan to 'upgrade' at this stage!

I took the plunge and upgraded the drivers. Seems I can go down a notch with the ASIO drivers. WDM are a pile of you no what!!!!!
I could go down to 192 buffer, now I can go down to 128 with no pop or clicks. Glad they are still working on the drivers.
It does suck that Cakewalk and Alesis can't get together and sort this thing out.

I want to upgrade to Sonar 7plus, but can't afford to buy Sonar 7 and then have to buy another interface to have it work.
I know in the future I'll save my pennies and buy either MOTU or RME and be done with it.

    Hi All,

I'm writing to you because I bought an Alesis product from Hungary a few days ago but unfortunately I didn't find any Windows (7) driver and software for it on the internet or on the site  now.

Can you please help me in this case? Can you send me a driver or a software or a link where I can download this driver?
