Mute Tool

I searched and could not find anyone else with mute tool issues. I have 7.0.2 PE installed. When I use the mute tool (K shortcut key) I get the bar with the mute tool symbol for a mouse pointer just fine. However it dont work 100% of the time.

I will click and drag over the portion that I want muted, and the clip portion will be highlited, but when I release the mouse, sometimes it will mute the section sometimes it wont. I have to do it 3 or 4 times to get it to work.

Is there some setting I dont have correct?

Drag across the bottom half of the clip to mute and across the top half to un-mute.

Hey, thanks for this; I searched for 'mute tool' on a whim and found this answer. I didn't know this was the actual tool behavior... I was thinking it was a scrub one way to mute, the other way to unmute, and it hardly ever worked so. I guess I was gravitating towards the top half of the clip when trying to use the tool. I ended up using volume automation most of the time to mute stuff. This'll neaten things up quite a bit.
