Yeah, now that you mention it, those pretty nice sony headphones I tried a while back sounded awesome when recording, but then when I put the song on a CD, I couldn't hear the bass at all! I think accurate sound is more important to me than full sound. I mean I probably could fix it with the EQ, but I'm not that patient.

If the sony v6 has that decievingly loud bass, than yeah, I'll stay away from them. Do they? I thought I heard they did.

ORIGINAL: Bren Gun
In that area it has hyped bass compared to the more-or-less flat SR60.

If that is the case, then I'm pretty sure you are mistaking weak bass response for flatness. You wouldn't be the first.

i have some sennheiser hd280 pro's and they are great for tracking. they aren't so great for mixing but you can still hear some detail in the lows if you concentrate (and hold them firmly against your head ). of course i wouldn't mix on headphones unless i absolutely had to. i do use them as an a/b reference, like i use my stereo.

I bought the m40fs. They will be good enough for me at $60. Thanks for all the advice.
