Firewire port on a card reader?

Hi,

I purchased a new Firewire Audio Interface, and now I need to explore options of getting firewire on my pc.

I have 3 PCI slots but they are all taken up. So I was considering getting a multicard reader such as the one below, which comes with a Firewire port. The interface has external power so I wouldn't need to worry about that if it was an issue. Moreover I'm worried that the data transfer speed would be compromised.

What do you all think?

Here's an example of what I'm looking at below:

Nevermind, I think I need a host controller on my motherboard in order for that to work.

Sooooo, I guess that leaves me with the option of either replacing my motherboard or getting a PCI firewire card? Or is there another solution? Does anyone know of a PCI Firewire card that's compatable with Vista?

Actually, I did find out some promising news. I have a 1212M soundcard which I forgot has one 1394 Firewire port on it. The user manual says that it doesn't have Firewire audio, but perhaps I can just route the sound from the AI into the 1212M inputs.

fyi - The Audio interface is a Tascam FireOne, and I'm using it as a control surface and as a preamp. I guess I'll have to see if that setup works!
