Music Creater 2002

Hi I'm new to the forum and to recording. I'm embrassed to say Cakewalk isn't as easy for me as it's name implies. I'm using a Blue Snowball USB mic and when I try to record or press record it tells me to go to F1 (help). I'm really at a lost to what to do next. Thank you for any assistance you can give me.Regards,
TDB

    Music Creator doesn't like USB mics. Others have tried to use them, with varying success.
    Tell us about your computer; how much memory does it have? How fast is it? What sound card are you using? What is your operating system? Older versions of Music Creator are difficult to impossible to get working with Microsoft's new Vista operating system.
    Have you run the wave profiler? Usually it runs automatically the first time you open MC.

    I am selling my MIM Fender Stratocaster HSS, red and black. PM for more details.

    Music Creator 2003, MC Pro 24, SONAR Home Studio 6 XL, SONAR  X3e, CbB, Focusrite Saffire, not enough space.
    Everything is better with pie.

    USB mics need MME driver mode to work. change to MME driver mode:
    OPTIONS>AUDIO>ADVANCED>DRIVER MODE = MME
    close MC
    restart MC
    let the wave profiler run.

    even with that, sometimes you can't get them to work correctly - they are not very compatible with sophisticated programs like MC.

    Nah, Beagle your suggestion didn't get it to work. The wave profiler ran, it said it was succesfull or something to that effect, but the record button is still shaded in grey. I think I'll go out today and try to find/buy some new recording software which is USB mic compatiable if there is any such animal. Thanks again Beagle and Greg for taking the time to respond and assist.
