Robot voice

A long time ago I had some kind of yellow box, I think it was made by Boss. I used it to make my voice sound like a robot. However, it did not have any way to hook it up to midi to raise or lower the pitch. You had to manually move a knob, which obviously isn't realistic for creating melodies. However, the thing worked awsome for the robot sound without having ANY of your natural voice blended in.

The problem is, Ive tried various vocoders and they all blend in vocals and lack a pure robot sound. Has anyone managed to get a real robot sound from any plugins? I'd love to hear it. I wouldnt mind having one flat pitch, since I could slice it up and modulate the melodies manually from within sonar, but the ability to have the authentic robot sound (completely flat and narrow) and to control it by midi would be awesome. I've tried orange vocoder to be the closest, but was sorely disappointed by N.I. Vokator along with some other vocoder demos.

FYI: The Boss device I used to use for robot vocals is the VT-1, here: http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=414

See if you can find a vocoder with a small number of bands... like 4 to 8 bands max.

    Hi there Neptune

I've got a couple of free VST plugs that might be useful to you.

Roboticize showing Metahydraliciousness preset [how can a preset with that name possibly not work!!]:

    PitchSlap showing Robot Choir preset:

The downloads are both on the same site at the DARKWARE LEGACY ARCHIVES

    Hope that helps Neptune

    Best wishes

Steve: Roboticize is actually a pretty cool plug-in! So far, I think I'm going to use this combined with v-vocal (for using pitch correction to make melodies) a good bit. All v-vocal or roboticize needs is to be able to control pitch via midi. :) Thanks a lot.

    Glad to help Neptune.

I'm a bit of a [free] VST junkie so when I read your question I thought I must have something in my folder to recommend!

    Best wishes
