ADAT 16bit upload question - RME interface

I have some projects recorded on my old Alesis 16bit deck that I'd like to upload to Sonar. I am looking at getting the RME Multiface with a PCIe card. The Multiface has an ADAT connection which is listed as 24bit. Does anyone know if the RME will convert from 16 to 24 bit?

    Klaus it's probably backward compatible. It should adjust it accordingly automatically.. as much of if you gave a pc an 8 bit wav or 16 bit wav.. it knows from the header in the file , how to cope with it.

    they are probably just stating the 24 bit thing , as the maximum it can cope with , would be my guess 85%...

    email RME support, they are helpful, well have been with me

    I'm guessing it will. I'm waiting on RME's AIO card though for pci-e =/

    The ADAT lightpipe output of the ADAT should be 24bit if I remember correctly. So just start the project as 24bit and it should work just fine. What model ADAT tape machine is it ?
