sending files to e-mail accounts

I tried to send a Pro Audio file to a friend's e-mail account
and I got this message:

account: imap
server: pop3
protocol: SMTP
port: 25
secure (SSL): no
socket error: 10060
error number: OXOOCCOE

I don't know what any of these terms mean,
and I don't know how to adjust any of them.

What should I do?

    A google search for:
    socket error: 10060
    turned up several possibilities.

A lot of ISP's limit file size, attachment types and other things. Try sending your friend a plain text email and see if that goes through. If it does, then something is blocking the attachment(s). If it does not, then someone will need to troubleshoot either, or both, your email or your friends email.

You may have to zip it to get it to go through...
