Voxengo Pristine Space Truckers...help?

I can get Prisitne Space to work in Project 5 no problem, but with Sonar it just blocks the audio path even with an impulse file loaded.

So even if I have an audio file on a track it all goes silent. Anyone using Pristine space in Sonar? How did you set it up?

Zero latency is not activated. Thanks...

I'm using it fine in Sonar 3.

I just stick it in a bus and use sends. It works fine - I didn't do anything other than just run the exe prog to install and then stuffed the registration code in and hey Pristine. Loaded an impulse and sat back in amazement.

Any settings you want me to check??

edit I just checked: if you don't load an impulse you dont get anything through the bus taht the plugs in. Is that what you meant?? If so I guess the answer is load an impulse??

DOH just read the first line of your post .......... sorry!!

    Thanks Graham,

I have had a chat with Aleksey (Mr. Voxengo). I did manage to get it working but I noticed that Prisitne will not work in either Sonar or Project 5 on any setting less than 20ms.

Aleksey said that as Prisitne is a Convolution reverb it uses alot of cpu power.Although I was fully of that before buying this excellent product, I am still a bit surprised that it cannot work on anything less than 20 ms.

I think it is another case of a plug not optimised for a Dxi host, of which of course Sonar and P5 fall into.

This is not being critical of Aleksey in anyway..I bought the full Convolution suite...but more of a Cakewalk VST compatibility issue. Maybe it's just my set up.

I can use Prisitne on Tracktion (VST host) on as little as 1.6ms!

I am using the M -Audio Firewire Audiophile, with a 2.8 GHZ PC with 1 GB of Ram.

The 20 ms ceiling only occurs in Sonar and P5. Using either WDM or ASIO drivers. Pristine Space really is a superb product though regardless.

Graham... what latency setting are you using Pristine on. Is it less than 20ms in Sonar?

Anyone else with similar issues / workarounds?

Interesting post -- I generally work at higher latencies, so I never saw this problem, but you're right. Below 23ms, Pristine Space doesn't work -- interesting to hear it works better at low latencies in Traktion.

I have the solution -- increase ExtraPluginBufs in your aud.ini file up to 128, 256, 512 -- seems to do the trick -- I can run at 3ms when I set ExtraPluginBufs to 512.

You know that probably explains the odd crackle or two I've heard occassionally. Because it's high CPU I usually use some other plug like TC Native to track then wap in Voxengo to do the mixing by which time I've probably upped the latency anyway. But I have used it to track and have had crackles - guess I'll try the workaround too then. Glad you got an explanation even if it's not ideal.

    Regards

Yeah Aleksey (Mr. Voxengo) suggested I adjust the latency setting *in* Pristine Space and Andrew's helpful post seems a very good workaround as well.
Crackling really does require careful listening to pick out at times. Its very often latency settings that cause it.
