JV 2080
Hello, I just noticed that there is a JV 2080 selection in the template dropdown in the new project file window in mc4. I have been using this module as an analog input. I know I can rig it up midi and assign it's patches. What I'm interested to know is what is the benifits of selecting it as the project template? I believe it would work midi with out it being a selection anyway so I figure there must be some sort of benefit being a specific selection. Plus with roland in the picture now, my hope is there are extras. Any info on this subject and Roland produts being catered to would be helpful to me as a have a few of them. Thanks. rhyno

I'm not sure what the benefit would be. I think out of all the templates available I've only used 3. Normal, MIDI only and Stereo Mastering. and I've never even opened the rest of them, so I don't even know what they have in them. i may have to check some of them out when I get some time just to see. but I've thought that for a couple of years now!

Hi Beagle, I guess unless you have one of those modules ( not really sure if the other selections are modules, Keyboards etc. ) why would you bother with it. Can't find any info online either. I'm really curious about this though. Thanks for looking in.

Try it. Create a project as you normally would, just a few tracks, the close it, open a new project with that template and re-create what you just did. Does it sound any different with the module?

So I just created a new project and selected the JV template. One of the first steps was to send system exclusive data to the MIDI device (which I don't have). Presumably that syncs the MIDI and all the patch data, like an instrument definition. Using it like that should play all your MIDI through the JV, bypassing any soft synths, and saving your processing speed. Go ahead, give it a whirl. Let us know how it went.

Hi Greg, Just arrived at my DAW a few ago. I'm gonna get that underway. Midi novice here. Are you saying that it may be to set up a template for it patches so that it can assign it's sounds from a selectable list that I would see in mc4? Makes sense. That would be great. Thanks rhyno

That's what I think. It would save you a few steps when using the module, to have everything accessible from MC.
