Possible to open project WITHOUT associated VST loading sounds?

Is it possible in Sonar 7 to have a project saved with a VST (in this case, Vienna Ensemble 3), and have sounds/samples loaded into that VST, BUT then when you re-open that cakewalk project, have the VST loaded but not automatically load the sounds/samples?

    Don't think so. One simple option, before closing SONAR, "unload" the sounds/samples from Vienna Ensemble and use "Save As" to save the project with a slighly different name (such as MySong-VienNoSamp).

    Mahlon I'm not sure how that vst-i works as I don't own it.

    normally it should just do it from the preset / patch. which is kept.

    maybe it's not keeping that info

    You can open a project in safe mode by holding the Shift key as you click on the file. This will prompt you for a "yes or no" response to open any plugins in the project

    Thanks for the answers. I'll try them. Mudgel, thanks for that tip. Didn't know it was an option. I'm still looking for something a bit more automatic, though. Perhaps I'll put this in as a feature request.
